Stand up
When we stand, our body can only sense the “postural mechanism” in its full power if we allow our neck, head and torso to align properly. The image on the right shows the natural curves, as opposed to a compressed spine on the left.
Using a computer
Very often when we use computers or sit in front of TVs, we are so intent on the monitor that we forget about our bodies. We can change the way we focus our attention to include awareness of the body, and thereby remain comfortable longer.
Sitting in the office
It is a challenge to sit in a "comfortable chair" and remain comfortable for long. Instead of holding us upright, it causes us to sink down and abandon any postural awareness. Notice that the support in the chair on the left gives the person more balance.
Driving a car
Driving can be very damaging to our backs. We need to ensure that our neck, back and torso have support and that the back doesn’t lean backwards in a pronounced curve.
